16 Years of Service

16 Years of Service: Our Long-Standing Volunteer

At Good Shepherd's Clothes Closet, we are blessed to have a community of dedicated volunteers who selflessly give their time, talents, and energy to help us serve those in need. Among these incredible individuals, one volunteer stands out for her unwavering commitment and years of service: Joyce Macway. For an astounding 16 years, Joyce has been a cornerstone of our organization, and we couldn’t be more grateful for her enduring presence.

Joyce began her journey with Good Shepherd's Clothes Closet when she first learned about our mission to provide free clothing to individuals and families experiencing hardships. Drawn by a desire to make a difference and help those struggling to meet their basic needs, she joined as a volunteer—and she never looked back.

In the years since, Joyce has become much more than a volunteer. She is a friendly face to those we serve, a mentor to newer volunteers, and a constant source of support for our entire team. Whether she’s organizing donations, sorting clothes, or assisting visitors as they select items, Joyce approaches each task with kindness, compassion, and a smile.

But it’s not just her willingness to help that makes Joyce special—it’s the genuine care she brings to every interaction. For many of the individuals and families who come to us for help, Joyce is often the first person they meet, and her warmth makes an immediate and lasting impression. Her dedication to treating everyone with dignity and respect reflects the very heart of Good Shepherd's Clothes Closet's mission.

Over the past 16 years, Joyce has witnessed the growth and transformation of our organization. She’s been here through times of abundance and times of challenge, always offering a steady hand and a positive attitude. Her commitment has helped us serve thousands of people, and she continues to inspire those around her with her tireless work ethic and deep empathy.

When asked what keeps her coming back year after year, Joyce humbly attributes her motivation to the people we serve. "It’s knowing that I’m helping someone in need, no matter how small the act may seem. Every bit of kindness makes a difference," she says.

As we celebrate Joyce’s remarkable 16 years of service, we are reminded of the profound impact one person can have on an entire community. Her contributions have helped shape Good Shepherd's Clothes Closet into the compassionate and supportive space it is today, and we are endlessly grateful for her loyalty and heart.

To Joyce and all of our amazing volunteers, thank you for everything you do. You are the backbone of our organization, and we are honored to work alongside you. Here’s to Joyce’s incredible 16 years—and to many more to come!

Together, we will continue to make a difference, one day at a time.
